What are some examples of centripetal force?
Electrons orbiting a nucleus - electrostatic.
Solar systems orbiting a galactic centre - Gravitational force.
Ball on a string orbiting round - Tension
Child standing on a roundabout - Friction
How do you find the maximum speed before a car starts to slip (derivation)?
THIS A TOPIC TITLE - CENTRIPETAL FORCE AT A SLIGHT ANGLE.
What is a banked track?
It increases the speed of an object moving in a circle, compared to a flat track.
This is because on a flat track, the centripetal force is provided by the frictional force between the tyres & th road.
Whereas, with a banked track, the normal reaction (support force) provides some of the centripetal force so that less force has to be provided by friction.
Hence, a car can travel faster round the bend before the maximum frictional force is reached.
Complete the derivation of g = root(grtan0)
What are the types of centripetal forces that act at a slight angle & thus is split into components?
From physics workbook e.g.:
Normal reaction force
Lift force
Create a diagram that shows the forces acting on a Ferris wheel/ rollercoaster?
Derive how you would find the resultant force (aka centripetal force) on the roller caster e.g?
What is the resultant force acting on the users on a roller coater?
THE CENTRIPETAL FORCE.
What determines your apparent weight (how heavy you feel)?
The surface normal (force).
What is the lowest speed on an object?
When the force of the surface normal = 0
(as mv^"2/r = mg)
Complete a free body force diagram of a car going over a bump?
