Self-care
Practices that individuals engage in to maintain health and well-being.
HUGOT
A Filipino term meaning to extract or take out, often used in context with emotional expressions or sentiments.
Need of understanding the self
Acquiring a positive sense of self, developing potentials, and participating meaningfully in society.
Consciousness
Awareness of one's own existence, sensations, thoughts, and surroundings.
Identity
The condition of being oneself and not another; characteristics that define a person.
Cultural Identity
Sense of belonging to a certain culture and its shared values.
Collective Self
Cognitions related to one’s group membership and identity.
Social Identity Theory
A person's sense of who they are based on their group membership.
The Looking Glass Self
A theory proposing that self-concept develops through reflection on how we think others perceive us.
Eliminative Materialism
The philosophical belief that nothing but matter exists, and the physical brain shapes our sense of self.
Bifurcated Nature of Man
The concept that humans have both physical and spiritual aspects influencing their identity.
Self-actualization
The realization or fulfillment of one's talents and potential, often considered as the ultimate goal of human development.
Psychoanalysis
A therapy method that emphasizes the role of unconscious factors in shaping human behavior.
Body-Mind Dualism
The philosophical viewpoint that the mind and body are fundamentally distinct and separable.
Transpersonal Psychology
A sub-field of psychology that integrates spiritual experiences into the understanding of human behavior.
Self-efficacy
Belief in one's ability to succeed in specific situations or accomplish a task.
Personal Identity
An individual's conception and expression of their own personal characteristics, traits, and experiences.
