Oxygenation
The process to provide oxygen to all cells of the body.
Ventilation
The process of transporting air through the respiratory tract to the alveoli and diffusing oxygen into the blood.
Alveoli
The site of gas exchange where oxygen and carbon dioxide diffuse in and out of the blood.
Hypoxemia
Decreased oxygen levels in the blood.
Hypoxia
Decreased delivery of oxygen to organs and tissues.
Dyspnea
Difficulty breathing, which may be sudden or gradual.
Pneumothorax
Condition in which air enters the pleural cavity, leading to lung collapse.
ABGs (Arterial Blood Gases)
A diagnostic test that measures levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood.
Cough Assessment
Evaluation of cough related to duration, productivity, and characteristics like color and volume of sputum.
Barrel Chest
A condition where the anteroposterior to transverse diameter ratio approaches 1:1 due to chest enlargement.
Pulse Oximetry
A non-invasive method to measure the oxygen saturation of the blood.
Perfusion
The process in which blood carries oxygen and nutrients to body tissues and organs.
