Overprotectiveness can lead to sensory maladjustment, in which the person will become too gullible
Stage 1: Trust vs. Mistrust - Malignancy
Failure in developing trust during an infant’s first 18 months can result in withdrawal; lack of trust in other people can lead to depression and other cases
Stage 1: Trust vs. Mistrust - Virtue
Balance of both leads to hope, a strong belief that even when things go wrong, it will still work out in the end

Balance will lead willpower and determination
