theory of RJ

  • Justice should focus more on repairing relationships and not solely on punishment. Modern approaches recognise the wider community’s role.

  • Effective restoration involves 3 stakeholders, which is the victim seeking reparation, taking responsibility and community support

  • partical reconciliation is when the offender only takes in 2 of the stakeholders, whereas complete reconciliation takes all into account

  • the criminal justice act of 2003 allowed offenders to sdo their due dilligance by giving back to the community which is eiuither by upaid work or community service an the offender susally has a probation officierwith them, in this tiem the offender is also able to acquire to learn new skills and it allos them to reintergrate back into society

  • For it to be more effective should be used with other rehbilitation rogrammes and should take a more comprehensive approach for the best outcomes.
