Social contract
the agreement made between the ruler and the ruled defining the duties and rights of each.
Absolutism
a political theory and form of government where unlimited power is held by a centralised sorveign individual.
Enlightened absolutism
same with an absolute monarch, inspired by the enlightened ideas.
Revolution
A forcible overthrow of a government or social order in favour of a new system.
Feudalism
A system of political organization after the fall of the Roman Empire in the Middle Ages. Ranked high to low: King, Vassals, Lesser nobles and knights, serfs.
Humanism
The possibility of living a good life without following a traditional religion but depending solely on the morality of a human.
The Age of Enlightenment
A movement that favored reason and coordination over superstition and blind faith.
