selection of subjects for a study must be fair and not discriminate

what does the IRB consist of

at least 5 members, one male and female, one person who can competently review the science, one non-scientist, one member of community not affiliated with the research

all research subjects are entitled to a document that informs them

the true purpose of the study and what will be done or by the subject, potential benefits, assurances of privacy, contact information for the researcher and IRB, statement that subject has right to withdraw

giving credit where no credit is warranted
