what is internal validity & how to increase it
whether you are measuring what you intended to measure or weather an extraneous variable has impacted results
more control over EVs
more representative sample- minimizes participant variables
what is face validity
whether the measure looks on the surface like it will measure what it intended to measure or not (opinion biased) to increase:
make the measure of the DV look like it’s measuring what it should be measuring
change opinions of the researchers/ people giving opinions and convince them it’s measuring what it intends to

what is construct validity
whether the measure is wide enough to demonstrate complexity of behavior or if it is too narrow to increase:
make the measure wider so it demonstrates complexity of behavior
what is concurrent validity
whether the measure gives the same results as another established measured of the same behavior or not to increase:
look for and ensure there’s a strong positive correlation between old established measure and new measure
what is criterion validity
whether the measure predicts the results from another measure or not
what is external validity
weather results from research can be genralised to other settings or not, to increase:
have a representative sample
what is population validity
weather the measure measures behavior in general population or not to increase:
have a more representative sample that covers more cultures
what is ecological validity
whether results from the research can be generalised to the real world or not increase by:
change experiment and make it as true to life as possible so it reflects what’s actually happening in the real world
