NPASBG meaning
National Physical Activity and Sedentary Behviour Guidelines
NPASBG for children 5-17
Mod-vig activity for 1 hour everyday with strength and vigorous activity 3 times a week
No more than 2 hours of recreational screentime per day with minimised sitting time
Sleep for 9-11 hours (5-13 years ) and 8-10 hours (14 -18 years )
NPASBG for adults 18-64
Mod - vig on preferably all days with 2.5- 5 hours of mod and 1 ¼ - 2.5 of vig over the whole week and strength, muscle and bone strengthening training twice a week
NPASBG for older Australians 65+
Mod activity on preferably all days of more than 30 minutes focusing on flexibility, fitness, strength and balance
What is physical inactivity
people who do not reach the recommended level of physical activity on a regular bases
What is physical activity
any body movement that works your muscles and requires more energy than resting
What is sedentary behaviour
any time a person is sitting or lying down and not engaging muscles

Better your sense of control, coping ability and self-esteem. Can reduce stress and anxiety. Slow the cognitive decline that comes with age.

You feel like you belong especially if you are doing physical activity in a group.

An improved social life, develop better empathy and social skills (especially in team sports)

Releases chemicals in your brain which make you feel good (serotonin)

encourage or support a person to participate in a sport or physical activity eg - accessability to a sporting facility and social support

anything that makes it difficult for you to get enough activity or exercise eg - time, injury, disability and money

Sportsmanship vs gamesmanship
Sportsmanship is a more ethical approach where healthy competition is seen as a way of creating character while gamesmanship is built on the principle that winning is everything and people will do whatever it takes to win
Examples of plays in sport that are within the rules of the game but may be considered deviant
Dangerous fouls, pulling a jumper, an elblow and starting fights
