How do we remove unwanted audio?

Use audio editing to remove the sections of unwanted noise.

What are short fades used for?

Added to the audio to avoid any pops or clicks being added to the audio.

What is the unwanted noise during the rests in the vocal known as?

bleed/spill

Why would bleed/spill occur?

The singer’s headphones were in close proximity to the microphone and therefore the backing track has been picked up by the microphone.

How do you remove bleed/spill?

We could use audio editing to remove this. However, this would be a long process.

How do you pitch correct a bass?

We can cut out the individual note and transpose that region to the correct pitch.

How do you pitch correct vocals?

• We can use pitch correction to automatically correct the notes to the key and scale of the recording.

• This is more commonly known as autotune.
