Tawhid
The oneness of God; the central Islamic belief that God is One and indivisible.
Akhirah
The Islamic term for the afterlife where souls go to Jannah (Paradise) or Jahannam (Hell).
Angels
Supernatural beings created by God who serve various functions, such as delivering messages from Allah and recording human deeds.
Authority
Sources of true knowledge about Allah that guide Muslim behavior, such as Prophets and holy books.
Barzakh
An intermediate state where souls reside after death and before the Day of Judgement.
Beneficent

Caliph

Imam
A leader in prayer, specifically in Shi'a Islam refers to a divinely appointed successor of Muhammad.
Islamic state
A society organized around the teachings of Islam.
Jahannam
The state of Hell in Islam; a place of punishment in the afterlife.
Jannah
Paradise; the state of eternal happiness and reward in the afterlife.
Merciful
An attribute of Allah; He forgives the sins of those who genuinely repent and seek His guidance.
Muslim
A person who submits to the will of God and follows the teachings of Islam.
Omnipotent
An attribute of Allah that indicates His power is limitless; He is capable of doing anything.
Predestination
The belief that Allah has predetermined all events and actions that will occur.
Prophet
An individual chosen by Allah to convey His messages and guidance to humanity.
Resurrection
The act of rising from the dead on the Day of Judgement.
Revelation
The process through which Allah communicates His will to humanity, usually through the Qur'an.
Shi'a
A branch of Islam that believes leadership should remain within the family of Prophet Muhammad.
Sunnah
The teachings and actions of Prophet Muhammad that serve as a model for Muslims.
Sunni
The largest denomination of Islam that follows the traditions and teachings (Sunnah) of Muhammad.
Shirk
The sin of associating partners with Allah, considered one of the gravest offenses in Islam.
Soul
The spiritual and immortal part of a human being.
Transcendent
The concept of Allah being beyond and independent of the physical universe.
Immanent
The belief that Allah is present and active in the world and in human affairs.
Risalah
The Islamic term for prophethood, emphasizing the role of prophets as messengers of Allah.
