What is current electricity?
electrons flowing through a closed circuit
What is electric current?
amount of energy in a circuit per given time
Formula for electric current?
I(A) = Q(C)/t(s)
What is electric potential energy?
How much energy is being held per unit charge?
What is potential difference?
The difference between electric potential energy in two points of a circuit
Formula for potential difference?
∆V(V) = ∆E(J)/Q(C)
What is electron flow?
flow of electrons from the negative terminal into to positive terminal
What is an electrical circuit?
Closed path which electrons powered by a source can flow through
Three parts of an electrical circuit?
1)Energy Source 2)Conducting wires 3)Load
What is a parallel circuit?
A circuit which electrons have different paths and loads to go through
What is a series circuit?
A circuit which electrons have only one path to go through
What is electrical resistance?
The property of a substance hindering and converting electric current
What is a resistor?
A device used for decreasing electrical current
What 4 factors do resistors depend on?
1)material used
2)length (longer = higher R)
3)Thickness (thinner = higher R)
4) Temperature (hotter = higher R)
What is Ohm's Law?
Current that flows in a circuit is proportional to the voltage
Ohm's law formula
R(ohms) = V(V)/I(A)
Kirchoff's rules in series circuit
Current: IT = I1 = I2 = I3
Potential Difference: VT = V1 + V2 + V3
Resistance: RT = R1 + R2 + R3
Kirchoff's rules in Parallel circuit
Current: IT = I1 + I2 + I3
Potential Difference: VT = V1 = V2 = V3
Resistance: 1/RT = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3
