Cardinal Sign

Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn; known for initiating energy.

Fixed Sign

Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius; known for stability and determination.

Mutable Sign

Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces; known for adaptability and changeability.

Void-of-Course Moon

The period when the Moon makes no more aspects to other planets before entering the next sign.

Synastry

The comparison of two natal charts to assess relationship compatibility.

Progressions

A forecasting technique that advances planets and points in the natal chart to symbolize development over time.

Zenith

The point directly overhead from an observer.

Nadir

The point directly below from an observer.

Declination

An angle, measured in degrees, minutes, and seconds, that specifies the position of a celestial body.

Celestial Latitude

The angular distance of a point north or south of the celestial equator.

Nodes

The intersection points of a planet's orbit with the ecliptic.

Interception

Blockage or hidden part of self not obvious on the surface, lies dormant until rushes to surface one day, good or bad

Possible didn’t get support as a child to develop abilities

Possible early environment helped it flourish in secret, expressed outwardly later in life

Intercepted Planet

Planet in the intercepted sign, triggered from time to time, dormant for most part

Well balanced chart

Three to four of each element present

Chart with a “strong” element

Five or more planets in the same element

Chart with a “weak” element

One or zero elements in an element

Strong fire chart

Passionate, confident, assertive, impulsive, independent, active, enthusiastic, bold

Weak Fire

Lazy, unmotivated, apathetic, passive, lethargic, uninterested, fearful, timid

Strong Earth

Practical, grounded, down to earth, methodical, persistent, stable, steady, constructive

Weak Earth

Disorganized, impractical, unproductive, ungrounded, unreliable, unstable, inefficient, unrealistic

Strong Air

Intellectual, adaptable, curious, logical, detached, talkative, cerebral, articulate

Weak Air

Disconnected, fragmented, scattered, uncommunicative, lack of objectivity, foolish, indifferent

Strong Water

Sensitive, emotional, caring, moody, empathetic, intuitive, nurturing, passive, perceptive, psychic, impressionable, sentimental

Weak Water

Cold, unemotional, controlled, unresponsive, closed off, lack of empathy, heartless, thick-skinned, indifferent, calculated

Remedy for weak fire

Find something to be passionate about, spend time with fiery people, work on motivation and follow-through, lots of physical activity (even sex)

Remedy for weak Earth

Ground and center, work on organization and good habits, spend time with down to earth people, garden, get a feel for the earth, spend time in nature

Remedy for weak Air

Stimulate your intellectual side with reading, traveling, examining current events, spending time with brainy folk, get as much education as possible

Remedy for weak Water

Get involved in a good cause, explore mystical subjects, music, and art as therapy, spend time with sensitive people, find someone to nurture (critters count), watch drama, hug it out

Four to five planets in one quality

Six or more in one quality

Weak number of qualities

Two or fewer of one quality

Strong Cardinal

Action oriented, full of energy, motivated, love to get things started, restless, easily bored, need to be doing something, ambitious to the core, need plenty of action which can lead to impulsiveness or fidgeting

Weak Cardinal

Instead of rushing to action, methodical and less compulsive vibe. Need prodding or a robust motivating force before taking action. May avoid taking action altogether!

Strong fixed

Stubborn, set in ways, stable, resistant to change, strong-willed, slow to start but still reach goals through steady, determined effort. Enjoy being in the comfort zone, which is not bad but can get into ruts from time to time.

Weak Fixed

Instead of having steady energy to get things done, may lack initiative or doesn’t follow through, need structure and routine, willpower may need to be developed

Strong Mutable

Adaptable, changeable, flaky, flighty, and easily bored, dislike routine, have a tendency to be scattered

Similar to strong cardinal charts, crave action but the difference is they will often drop things when they’re no longer interesting, can lead to reputation of flakiness or unreliability. Need to learn to stay the course, root down, and finish what they start, even when it gets tedious

Weak Mutable

Life is serious business, they struggle with change and have trouble compromising, they expect everyone to yield

Singletons

The only planet in a particular element, quality, or house, can create a powerful dynamic focal point of energy in the chart, how you funnel your energy, a place for dogged determination, an ability to handle something, unusual talent, important role

Rulership

When the planet sits in the sign it rules, at home, functions well

Detriment

When planet is in the opposite sign it rules, weak, planet energy is watered down or negative

Exaltation

Best expression of the planet, strong and positive

Fall

Opposite the exaltation, total weak sauce, most negative expression of planet

Peregrine

Doesn’t fall into other categories, the energies work for most people but can be prone to negative energy if used wrong
