dx labs of Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone

  • serum osmolality. dilutional hyponatremia is indicated by a serum sodium level of less than 134 mmol/L, serum osmolality of less than 280 mmol/k

  • simultaneous measurements of urine

2
New cards

monitoring labs of Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone

  • sodium levels decline (dilutional hyponatremia)

nursing interventions for Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone

Rationale for the intervention

  • monitor BP for hypertension

  • hypertonic less than 9% saline gets the fluid out of the extracellular space and into the vascular system.

  • assess for crackles lung sounds difficulty breathing

  • before admin diuretics check potassium lv before giving next dose of the loop diuretics

  • fluid I/O

tx of Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone

If symptoms are mild and the serum sodium level exceeds 125 mmol/L, the only treatment may be fluid restriction (between 800 and 1 000 mL/day).

  • This restriction should result in gradual daily weight reduction, a progressive rise in serum sodium concentration and osmolality

  • fluid restriction (800 to 1 000 mL/day). decrease thirst

  • Ice chips or

  • sugarless chewing gum meds take at meals to prevent Gi irritation

  • diuretic to remove excess fluid volume, and

  • well-diluted sodium and potassium supplements

  • declomycin

  • hypertonic less than 9% saline gets the fluid out of the extracellular space and into the vascular system.
