In 1943
a small healthcare center was opened in Al Ras area in Dubai.

under the patronage of Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, the first phase of Al Maktoum Hospital was built; it had 157 beds.

The ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheik Shakbut, paid a visit to an American mission in Muscat. Pat and Mariam Kennedy, the couple in charge, were invited to open a clinic in Al Ain. They established Oasis Hospital in November 1960.
