Gets almost none of the cytoplasm

FSH concentrations in the blood increase - follicles grow - race between follicles

What happens to the oocyte when it’s released from the ovary into the oviduct? (Oogenesis)

It will stay in metaphase 2 if it’s not fertilized

Estrogens (Menstrual Cycle)

Stimulate growth of the endometrium

Ovulation (Menstrual Cycle)

An oocyte matures and escapes from an ovary during each menstrual cycle

Corpus lutes formation and ovulation (Menstrual Cycle)

• Forms from remnants of the ruptured follicle

• Secretes progesterone and estrogen

• Persists for about 12 days - if no fertilization

• If a fertilized egg does not implant, then the corpus luteum will self destruct in the last days of the cycle
