What is the nervous system made up of?
Central and peripheral nervous system
What is the function of the central nervous system?
Coordinates messages from the peripheral nervous system,controls involuntary responses and coordinates reflexes
What is the peripheral Nervous System (PNS)?
Consists of the nerves of the body which connect so the CNS.The nerves of the PNS carry nerve impulses away from and towards the CNS
What are voluntary actions?
Those we choose to carry out e.g. walking
what are involuntary actions?
Those not under conscious action e.g. heart beating
What are nerves?
A bundle nerve fibres gathered together in bundles snd wrapped in connective tissue sheaths like wires in a cable.
What is the Parasympathetic nervous system ?
Linked to Rest and digest
What is the sympathetic nervous system?
Fight or flight response
what is an example for the sympathetic system?
Speeds up the heart and breathing rate
