Interpret a P-Value
Assuming Ho is true (p = ___), there is a [p-value] probability of getting a phat of [_] or more/less extreme, purely by chance.
Conclusion for a Significance Test - p-value is LESS than significance level
Because [p-value < α], we reject Ho. We do have convincing evidence that the true [Ha context] is (whatever p is for Ha).
Conclusion for a Significance Test - p-value is GREATER than significance level
Because [p-value > α], we fail to reject Ho. We do not have convincing evidence that the true [Ha context] is (whatever p is for Ha).
What is a Type I error?
Type I error occurs if a test rejects Ho when Ho is true. That is, the test finds convincing evidence that Ha is true, when it really isn’t.
What is a type II error?
Type II error occurs if a test fails to reject Ho, when Ha is true. That is, the test does not find convincing evidence that Ha is true, when it really is.
