Internalisation
A deep type of conformity where a person genuinely takes on the views of a group both publicly and privately. Permanent and remain even in absence of the group.
Identification
A moderate type of conformity where a person takes on the views of a role model or group they value. They publicly accept the groups views, even if not necessarily privately. They want to be part of the group.
Compliance
A superficial type of conformity where someone goes along with a group publicly to fit in but keep their own views in private.
Normative Social Influence
Going along with the majority group to fit in, gain approval and avoid rejection.
Informational Social Influence
Going along with a group because you believe they are correct and you want to be right as well.
Strengths

Limitations
- Does not account for individual differences - some are more likely to conform than others
