Fibrous Joints
Joints held together with dense connective tissue containing many collagen fibers.
Types of Fibrous Joints
There are three types: Syndesmosis, Suture, and Gomphosis.
Syndesmosis
A type of fibrous joint where bones are bound by a sheet of dense connective tissue or a bundle of dense connective tissue.
Amphiarthrotic
A type of joint that is flexible and may twist, as seen in syndesmosis.
Example of Syndesmosis
An example of syndesmosis is the joint between the tibia and fibula.
