Non-spatial data

Descriptive info that does not have location-based qualities.

Attribute tables

Associated to a spatial data layer and store attributes of map features, including special fields for spatial information.

Standalone tables

Store any tabular data not associated with spatial data, and can be in different formats like CSV or Excel.

Nominal data

Unique identifier of some kind that is categorical, such as names or titles.

Ordinal data

Data that represents a ranking.

Interval data

Numeric data where the difference between numbers is significant, but there is no fixed non-arbitrary zero point, e.g., Celsius.

Ratio data

Numeric data that has a true zero point, allowing for absolute measures, e.g., population total.

One-to-one join

A join where there is a single record from each table being joined to a single record in the other table.

Many-to-one join

A join in which many records in an attribute table are joined to the same single record in another table.

Selecting records in ArcGIS Pro

Using features such as select by location and perform queries to select records based on specific criteria.

Simple query

Query that asks one question in relation to data.

Compound query

Query that adds multiple questions based on an initial question.
