The variable that is changed during an experiment.

Dependent Variable

The variable that is measured during an experiment.

Stomata

Small holes in the undersides of leaves that allow gas exchange.

Diffusion

The movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration.

Special features that help organisms to survive.

Respiration

A chemical reaction that happens in all living cells, it is the way that energy is released from glucose.

Aerobic Respiration

Respiration where oxygen is one of the reactants.

Anaerobic Respiration

Respiration where oxygen is not one f the reactants.

single cell fungal organism.

Ventillation

The process of breathing.

Glucose

The sugar produced by photosynthesis and needed for respiration.

Mitochondria

The part of the cell where aerobic respiration happens.

Chloroplasts

The part of the cell where photosynthesis hapens.

Lactic Acid

The product of anaerobic respiration in humans.

Oxygen Debt

The amount of oxygen required to remove the lactic, and replace the body’s reserves of oxygen.

Where the energy for photosynthesis is provided from.

Chlorophyll

Green pigment that is needed for photosynthesis.

Guard cells

Cells found either side of the stomata and control it’s opening and closing.

Xylem

Tissue that carries water and minerals from roots to leaves.

Phloem

Tissue that carries the products of photosynthesis around a plant.

Palisade Mesophyll

The water proof on the outside of a leave.

Spongy Mesophyll

Cells in a leaf that are looesly packed to allow gas exchange.
