Amplitude
Maximum displacement from equilibrium.
Frequency
Oscillations per second, denoted by (f).
Period
Time for one complete oscillation.
Wavelength
Distance between successive peaks.
Speed
How fast the wave travels.
Wave equation
V = fλ (velocity equals frequency times wavelength).
Transverse waves
Waves where particles oscillate perpendicular to the direction of wave travel.
Longitudinal waves
Waves where particles oscillate parallel to the direction of wave travel.
Rarefaction
Region in a longitudinal wave where particles are spread apart.
Superposition
The principle where two waves meet, resulting in their displacements combining.
Interference
The phenomenon where two waves overlap, resulting in either constructive or destructive interference.
Stationary waves
Waves formed by two identical waves traveling in opposite directions, creating nodes and antinodes.
Nodes
Points in a standing wave where there is no displacement.
Antinodes
Points in a standing wave with maximum displacement.
