Unconditioned Stimulus

*cold breeze causes person to shiver
Neutral Stimulus
A stimulus that doesn’t initially trigger a response on its own
*seeing a dog, ok is a dog
*hearing a sound - ok is a sound
Conditioned Stimulus
A stimulus that was once neutral, but now leads to a response
*A man gets bit by a dog and now fears all dogs (dog is the conditioned stimulus)
Unconditioned Response
A response that occurs automatically in the presence of a stimulus
*you smell your favorite food - mouth waters
Conditioned Response
A learned response or a response that is created where no response existed before
*the fear elicited by the bite is the conditioned response
