Assessment
The process of gathering data and information about what students know and can do.
Evaluation
The task of interpreting, forming conclusions, and making judgments about the information gathered through assessment.
Testing
An instrument of assessment that reflects the records of the students' learning.
Marks
Reports of the results of evaluating information obtained in the assessment process.
Authentic Assessment (AA)
A form of assessment that asks students to perform real-world tasks demonstrating meaningful application of essential knowledge and skills.
Performance Assessment
Another name for authentic assessment, focusing on products and/or performances correlated with real life experiences.
Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)
Skills that require students to analyze, evaluate, and create rather than just recall.
Criteria-referenced
Assessment that identifies strengths and weaknesses without comparing students or ranking their performance.
Portfolio
A compilation of pieces of evidence showcasing an individual's skills, ideas, interests, and accomplishments.
Process-oriented Performance-based Assessment
Assessment that is more concerned with the actual task performance rather than the output or product of the activity.
Analytic Rubric
A rubric that articulates levels of performance for each criterion, allowing for detailed assessment of student performance.
Holistic Rubric
A rubric that assesses overall performance across multiple criteria as a whole.
