They cause colonist to resent the fact that they were not get represented in Parliament. They started saying "no taxation without representation" They felt that they were not getting their rights as British citizens. Why did the Continental congress write the Declaration of Independence?
It was created due to the colonist being overtaxed without representation in Parliament. So they made a declaration to King George proclaiming that their rights had been violated. They stated what a government should be and that men have unalienable rights and that they were no longer 13 colonies but a new country called the United States of America.
