Frontal Bone
A single bone located in the forehead region of the skull.
Occipital Bone
The bone that forms the back and base of the skull.
Temporal Bone
A pair of bones located at the sides of the skull.
Mandible
The lower jawbone, the largest and strongest bone of the face.
Vertebrae
The individual bones that make up the vertebral column.
Cervical Vertebrae
The seven vertebrae that form the neck.
Thoracic Vertebrae
The twelve vertebrae located in the mid-back.
Lumbar Vertebrae
The five vertebrae located in the lower back.
Sacrum
A bony structure located at the base of the lumbar vertebrae, formed by five fused vertebrae.
Sternum
The flat bone at the front of the chest to which the ribs attach.
True Ribs
The first seven pairs of ribs that attach directly to the sternum.
False Ribs
The next five pairs of ribs that do not attach directly to the sternum.
Hyoid Bone
A U-shaped bone in the neck that supports the tongue; it doesn't articulate with any other bones.
Acromioclavicular Joint
The joint between the acromial end of the clavicle and the acromion of the scapula.
Glenohumeral Joint
The shoulder joint that allows for a wide range of motion.
Pelvic Girdle
The structure formed by the pelvis which connects the lower limbs to the trunk.
Synovial Joint
A fully moveable joint characterized by a synovial cavity.
Diarthrotic Joint
A joint that is freely movable.
