Waltz
A dance in triple time characterized by smooth, flowing movements.
CP (Closed Position)
A dance position where partners face each other closely.
LOD (Line of Dance)
The direction in which the dancers move around the dance floor.
Twinkle
A basic figure in waltz, consisting of a series of forward and side steps.
Rise and Fall
A technique in dance referring to the vertical movement of the dancers, involving a smooth transition between rising and lowering.
ALOD (Against Line of Dance)
Movement opposite to the direction of the line of dance.
CBM (Contrary Body Movement)
A technique used to help with connection and lead in dance by rotating the body in the opposite direction of the legs.
PP (Promenade Position)
A position where partners stand side by side facing the same direction.
BTBP (Back to Back Position)
A position where partners stand back to back.
Sway
A subtle movement in dance where the dancers lean to one side to create a flowing effect.
