What are the types of interior lining materials?

Crepe

A thin, crinkled cloth of silk, rayon, cotton OR wool used for casket lining

Satin

A fabric woven to create a smooth, lustrous face with a dull back. Made from silk, nylon or rayon. Used for casket lining

Velvet

A fabric of silk, cotton or possibly rayon having a thick, soft pile or nap. Used for casket lining

Linen

A fabric made from flax, which has strength, coolness and luster. Crisp fabric with a distinct woven apearance. used for casket lining

Linen weave

A fabric made to look like linen- imitation linen. Used for casket lining

Twill weave

A textile in which the threads are crossed over one another to give an appearance of diagonal lines. Woven. Used for casket lining

Muslin

Basic plain-woven cotton fabric. Mostly used in the lining of the jewish casket. Used for casket lining

Fiberboard (cardboard), masselin (backette) and plastic

Fiberboard (cardboard)

stiff, light material made from wastepaper pulp, often used for making containers for packaging goods. Often forms roll/cove and cap panels

Masselin (backette)

Pressed paper in sheet form. Often supports lining, particularly in the areas of the hinge cover and body lining. Helps conceal transparency of lower grade fabrics

Plastic (backing)

Synthetic material made from the polymerization of organic compounds.Often forms roll/cove and cap panels.

Style in which fabric is pressed on a metal form with weights and the material is then steamed to hold that shape

What is the tufted interior style?

A stule that is created by placing a padding between the fabric lining and a backing material and then stitching the backing to the lining, creating small raised puffs.
