Osmosis
The movement of water molecules from a dilute solution to a more concentrated solution through a partially permeable membrane.
Solute
A solid soluble substance, such as sugar or salt.
Solvent
The liquid in which the solute dissolves, such as water or alcohol.
Solution
Dissolved solute + solvent, such as salty water.
Partially Permeable Membrane
A membrane that allows water molecules to flow through during osmosis
Concentration Gradient
Water molecules will move down a concentration gradient from a dilute solution to a more concentrated solution.
Equilibrium
The water molecules are balanced same amount on each side.
