synovial joint

hyaline cartilage in a joint capsule, mobile

plane joint

gliding motions, flat surfaces

ex - acromioclavicular joint

pivot joint

roation around a single axis

ex - atlantoaxial joint

hinge joint

flexion and extension

ex - elbow

saddle joint

abduction, adduction, flexion, extension (movement through 2 planes), circumduction

ex - 1st carpometacarpal joint

circumduction, as is saddle joint, usually one plane is more restricted
