Occipitofrontalis

Muscle responsible for raising the eyebrows; has frontal and occipital bellies.

Corrugator supercilii

Muscle that draws eyebrows medially and inferiorly.

Orbicularis oculi

Muscle that closes the eye.

Zygomaticus

Muscle that raises the lateral corners of the mouth, associated with smiling.

Risorius

Muscle that draws the corner of the lip laterally.

Buccinator

Muscle that compresses the cheek and is important for whistling and sucking.

Masseter

Muscle that elevates the mandible; primary mover of the jaw.

Temporalis

Muscle that elevates and retracts the mandible.

Genioglossus

Muscle that protracts the tongue.

Hyoglossus

Muscle that depresses the tongue.

Sternocleidomastoid

Muscle that flexes and rotates the head.

Erector spinae

Group of muscles that are prime movers of back extension.

Diaphragm

Muscle that is the prime mover of inspiration (breathing in).

Rectus abdominis

Muscle that flexes and rotates the lumbar region.

Pectoralis minor

Muscle that protracts and depresses the scapula.

Trapezius
