Ad
Short for advertisement; a paid announcement promoting products, services, or ideas.
AP
Associated Press; a major international; news agency that provides a syndicated content to newspapers and broadcasters.
Art
Visual elements such as photos, illustration, and graphics used in a publication.
Assignment
A task given to a journalist to report on a specific story or event.
Balloon
A circle or shape in a cartoon or illustration that contains dialogue or text.
Banner
A large headline across the top of a newspaper page, often used for major stories.
Beat
A specific topic or area that a reporter regularly covers (e.g., crime beat, sports beat).
Body
The main text of a news story or article.
Bold Face
A type style with thick, heavy letters used for emphasis or headlines.
Box
An area outlined or set apart to highlight content, often used to feature key facts or sidebars.
Break
The point where a story continues onto another page (also known as a jump).
Byline
The name of the reporter who wrote the story, usually appearing at the top of the article.
Stringer
A freelance reporter who contributes stories to a news organization but is not a regular staff member.
