First Amendment

The right to practice whatever religion one chooses.

The right to express our views freely, without a penalty.
Clear and Present Danger
Free speech is limited if it creates a clear and immediate danger to someone.
Freedom of the Press
The right of journalists to publish the truth without a penalty.
Right to Petition
Citizens have the right to ask the government about laws they like or don't like.
Second Amendment
Right to bear arms in self-defense.
Third Amendment
The government may not put soldiers in our homes without our consent.
Due Process
The government must follow legal procedures when they accuse someone of a crime.
Fourth Amendment
Protects people from unfair arrests and searches.
Fifth Amendment
People accused of a crime have rights.
Sixth Amendment
People accused of a crime have the right to a fast trial.
Seventh Amendment
Right to a trial by jury.
Eighth Amendment
The government can't punish people accused of a crime in a cruel way.
Bail
Money paid to get out of jail.
Ninth Amendment
People have other rights not mentioned in the Constitution.
Tenth Amendment
Any powers not listed in the Constitution are automatically given to the states.
