What is energy?
Energy is the ability to do work or cause change.
What is the Principle of Conservation of Energy?
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed from one form to another.
What is dissipation?
When useful energy spreads out and becomes less useful (often as heat).
What is renewable energy?
Energy from sources that naturally replenish, like the Sun or wind.
What is non-renewable energy?
Energy from sources that will run out, like coal, oil, and gas.
What is sustainability?
Using resources in a way that meets today’s needs without harming future generations.
Name 8 forms of energy.
Heat, light, sound, kinetic, potential, chemical, electrical, nuclear, magnetic.
How do you calculate the energy needed for a task?
Energy = Power × Time (measured in joules).
Name 4 renewable energy sources.
Solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal.
Name 3 non-renewable energy sources.
Coal, oil, natural gas.
How is renewable energy different from non-renewable?
Renewable won't run out; non-renewable will.
How could future energy needs be met?
By using more renewable sources like solar, wind, and tidal energy.
Give 2 advantages of renewable energy.
Good for the environment, unlimited supply.
Give 2 disadvantages of renewable energy.
Can depend on weather and needs expensive technology.
Give 2 advantages of non-renewable energy.
Easy to use and produces lots of energy.
Give 2 disadvantages of non-renewable energy.
Causes pollution and will run out.
What are ethical issues with generating electricity?
Some methods harm the environment or people's homes (e.g., building dams).
What are sustainability issues with electricity use?
Using too much fossil fuels now means less for the future and more global warming.
