A plan created by managers that includes the number of hours worked by each employee and the rate of production.
Gantt Chart
A project management tool that shows the start and finish of each element of a project and their dependencies.
Flow Diagram
Used to illustrate a sequence of events within engineering processes.
Just-in-Time (JIT) Manufacturing
A methodology aimed at reducing flow times within production and response times from suppliers.
Life Cycle Cost (LCC)
The total cost throughout the life of an asset, including planning, design, acquisition, and support costs.
Capital Expenditure
One-time costs associated with a project, including the price of purchased assets and costs related to funding it.
Depreciation

Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
A method of problem solving to identify the root causes of faults or problems to prevent recurrence.
Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
A measure used to predict the elapsed time between failures of a system during operation.
Feedback Loop
A system established to capture data and record it, enabling continual feedback to improve processes.
Pareto Analysis
A statistical technique in decision-making that identifies the most significant factors in a dataset.
Performance Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT)
A scheduling method to plan and manage complex projects through a network of related activities.
Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
A technique for reliability and safety analysis that works backwards through time to examine events leading to failure.
Break-even Analysis
A method to determine when a business will be able to cover all expenses and begin to make a profit.
Histogram
A graphical representation that illustrates the deviation of products from the mean in mass production.
Job Cards
Documents used to detail the jobs to be performed by the workforce, authorizing and instructing them.
