Wilson-Gorman Tariff Act (1894)
A law restoring tariffs on sugar at a very high rate
This is important because it allows Havemeyer and Sprekels to push those tariffs to consumers, lowering the consumption. Cubans end up overproducing sugar, which causes their economy to crash. The thought of independence grows.
