Health=
A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity
Physical health and well being=
All body systems are working well and are free from illness or injury.
Also means the ability to carry out everyday tasks
Mental health and well being=
A state of well-being in which every individual realises his/her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to their community
Social health and well being=
Basic human needs are met (food,shelter,clothing)
The individual has friendship and support, some value in society, is socially active and has little stress in social circumstances
What does a healthy balanced lifestyle mean
eating a healthy balanced diet
taking regular exercise
maintaining a healthy body weight
not smoking and sensible alcohol consumption
Unhealthy lifestyle:
poor diet
Lack of exercise
Overweight
Smoking and too much alcohol
(Physical) fitness=
A persons capacity to carry out life’s activities without getting too tired
Well being=
Feeling positive - mental state of being contented, happy, prosperous and healthy
Participation improves physical health and well being
