How does an electric motor work?

How does an electric motor work?

 1. Switch is closed to form a complete circuit

 2. the current flows through the wire causing it to have a magnetic field

 3. this interacts with the permanent magnetic field of the magnets causing the wire to move

 4. Fleming’s Left hand rule indicates that this force is upwards in one direction and downwards in the other

 5. causing the motor to turn creating a clockwise motion

 6. The split ring commutator provides constant electrical contact to the coil and reverses the current’s direction as the coil spins

How does a loudspeaker work?

 1. An alternating current produces an alternating magnetic field

 2. this interacts with the permanent magnetic field

 3. the coil and the cone experience a force backward and forward matching the frequency of the alternating current

 4. this motion is a vibration that produces sound waves at the same frequency as air molecules move

 5. vibrating air molecules produce the pressure variant needed for a sound wave
