What is an aesthetic judgment according to Kant?

A judgment of taste not logic, based on a disinterested feeling of pleasure or displeasure in the form of an object — not its use, concept, or personal association.

explain the difference between pleasant/agreeable, good, and beautiful

agreeable/pleasing is fulfilling a personal interest, it is subject to the individual (this pizza is good to me). good is when it fulfills a universal interest, what should be valued (lying or murder is always wrong). beauty is defined by disinterestedness, in order to classify something as beautiful you must have 0 interest in the object.

What is taste? Explain what taste is.

in order to judge art you need taste. taste is acquired, you can learn taste, you can also refine your taste. in order to create beautiful art you need taste because without taste the products of a genius wouldnt be understood. taste clips the wings of a genius

you can’t learn to be a genius either you are born a genius or not. geniuses only exists exclusively in art. (3 conditions) 1. originality -  unable to explain what they made 2. exemplary - products must be models, followed not imitated 3. paradigm. able to express aesthetical ideas. have spirit and imagination

arts of speech (poetry and rhetoric) , formative arts (paintings, sculptures, architecture) , arts of the play of sensation (music, art of color)

why does Kant believe that poetry is the highest/best form of art

because it sets the imagination free and it owes its entire origin to genius.  poetry full expresses aesthetical ideas. poetry uses language not to define but to awaken the imagination and inspire reflection.

what are Kants feelings on music?

Kant is aware that music is something more than entertainment. Music is able to  move the mind in an intense way. However what's bad is that music doesn't leave anything for reflection, no food for thought. More or less it can’t be analyzed.

poetry is more honest than rhetoric. rhetoric aims to persuade or to manipulate. it appeals more to interest and emotion rather than disinterestedness in beauty.
