What does EMG stand for?
Electromyogram
What does an EMG measure?
It measures the electrical activity of muscles during contraction.
What is summation?
increased activity
what is spatial summation?
increased recruitment: increased number of active units (more nerve/muscle fibers activated)
what is temporal summation?
increased frequency: increased number of action potentials/time for EACH nerve/muscle fiber
What type of nerve is the frog sciatic nerve?
a mixed nerve
What are the differences between individual and compound action potentials?
Individual AP’s= all or none/reach threshold→ always same response
