personality, judgement, reasoning, speech, voluntary movement (front of brain)

temporal lobe

speech interpretation, hearing, memory (near ears)

parietal lobe

sense of touch (middle top of brain)

occipital lobe

visual (sight) (back of brain)

hypothalamus gland

control pituitary gland, growth hormone-releasing hormone, gonadotropin-releasing hormone (cause gonads to release hormones) (top left of midbrain)

Pituitary gland

growth hormone (cell division, protein synthesi, bone growth), antidiuretic hormone (absorb water into blood from kidneys) (bottom left of midbrain)

pineal gland

makes melatonin for sleep-wake cycle (top right of brain)

thyroid

makes thyroxine (increase metabolism, digestion, energy levels), calcitonin (lower calcium in blood by storing it in bones) (throat)

Parathyroid gland

parathyroid hormone (increases calcium in blood) (4 glands on thyroid) (throat)

Thymus

thymosin (stimulates Tcell development during childhood) ( in chest)

adrenal glands

makes epinephrine(adrenaline, increase heart rate), nonepinephrine (makes body stressed and alert) ( on kidneys)

pancreas

insulin(decreases sugar in blood), glucagon(increases sugar in blood) ( in between kidneys)

Ovary

estrogen(female characteristics and egg production), progesterone (prepares uterus for fertilized egg)

Testes

testosterone (sperm production and male characteristics)

cerebrum

controls thought, movement, emotion

cerebellum

coordination and balance

midbrain

reflexes; passageway for info about vision, hearing, and motor movements

pons

coordinates signals to the brain; regulates breathing

medulla oblongata

transmits info between spinal cord and brain for life sustaining functions such as blood pressure, heart beat, swallowing, coughing
