Parable of the growing seed, parable of the mustard seed, parable of the sower, parable of the lamp on stand
Parable of growing seed
Like the parable of the sower, it is a growth parable. The story is about a farmer who plants seeds and can do nothing about the growth until harvest time. This story shows that once the seed of the word of God is sown, only time will show how a person's faith will grow and develop.
Parable of the Mustard Seed
the kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches."
Parable of the sower
Jesus told a parable about a farmer who planted seeds in four different types of soil. Only one of the soils produced a good crop. Jesus explained that the soils represented people's hearts. When the word of God is planted in a good heart, good things will be produced in that person's life.
Parable of the lamp on stand
Jesus tells the parable. of the lamp on the stand to encourage his followers to stand out, to be an example and not to hide away. The message in this parable would have been challenging for the first Christians, who were cruelly persecuted.
