Focuses on behaviour of individuals with their experiences

strengths: quantitative data so more scientific
Weaknesses: ignores the whole experience, not good for schizophrenia and depression disorders
Idiographic AO3
Strength: qualitative data so in depth analysis of behaviour
Weakness: reliance on case studies and self report leaves open to subjectivity and bias, false conclusions more likely to be drawn, eg Oedipus + electra complex
