Pressure ulcer

A localized injury to the skin and/or the tissue beneath, usually over a bony prominence, due to prolonged pressure.

Pathophysiology

The study of structural and functional changes associated with disease and altered health.

Etiology

The study of the causes of diseases and altered health.

Pathogenesis

The process of how a disease develops and progresses.

Primary Prevention

Preemptive measures taken to prevent a disease before it happens. (ex: sunscreen, vaccines, health education)

Measures taken to detect disease at early stages (ex: screenings, blood pressure check)

Measures taken to reduce complications, improve quality of life, and recovery (ex: rehabilitation, chemotherapy)
