Ipse inter primos praestanti corpore Turnus vertitur

Turnus himself of beautiful body is turned among the chiefs

arma tenens et toto vertice supra est

grasping his arms and is above the others by a whole head

to whom lofty helmet, plumed by a triple crest, upholds a Chimera

At levem clipeum sublatis cornibus Io aura insignibat

But Io, with horns upraised, distinguished his light shield with gold

now covered with bristles, now a heifer, a great device

Illam omnis tectis agrisque effusa iuventus turbaque miratur matrum et prospectat euntem

All the youth pouring out from the houses and fields and the crowd of matrons regard her going

attonitus inhians animis ut regius ostro velet honos leves umeros,

gaping with astonished minds as the royal honor veils her smooth shoulder with purpleu
