What does endocrine system do?
a network of glands that produce and release hormones which act as chemical messengers to regulate various bodily functions
What is pituitary gland?
known as the master gland because it produces a range of hormones to regulare the production of other hormones around the body
What is Thyroid Gland?
a gland in the neck that produces thyroxine, which controls basal metabolic rate
What does excretory system do?
removes waste from body fluids to help maintain homeostasis in the body, and removes them through urine
what is a Nephron? (removes (4) & absorbs (2))
small unit in the kidney responsible for filtering blood. removes water, salts, glucose, amino acids. absorbs urea and ammonium
