Abdominal
The abdomen is the region of the body between the chest and the pelvis
Antebrachial
the study of the anatomical structures of the forearm, the section of the upper limb between the elbow and the wrist.
Axillary
commonly known as the armpit, is an anatomical region located between the upper arm and the chest wall
Brachial
the study of the structures and functions of the arm, specifically the upper arm or brachium
Cervical
the neck region of the spine
Pelvic
ring-like bony structure located at the lower end of the trunk
Pubic
a bone that forms the anterior (front) part of the pelvis
Lumbar
the lower part of the spine
Sacral
triangular-shaped bone located at the base of the spine, forming the posterior part of the pelvis
Superior (Cranial, cephalic)
Describes a position above or higher than another part of the body AKA Cranial
Inferior (caudal)
below or lower than another part of the body
Anterior (ventral)
refers to the front of the body
Posterior (dorsal)
refers to the back or rear of the body
Medial
toward the middle or midline
Lateral
the side of the body or a structure that is away from the midline
Proximal
a body part that is closer to the point of origin of a limb or structure, relative to another body part
Distal
a position or structure that is farther away from a point of attachment, origin, or reference.
Intermediate
a position or structure that is located between two other structures
Superficial (external)
close to the surface of the body or organ
Deep (internal)
a structure or location that is further away from the surface of the body or closer to the center of the body
Frontal (coronal)
the front or anterior portion of a structure
Sagittal
a vertical plane that divides the body into right and left sections
Midsagittal
an imaginary vertical plane that divides the body into two equal left and right halves
Parasagittal
Any vertical plane that is off-center and parallel to the midsagittal plane, resulting in unequal left and right sections.
Transverse (horizontal)
flat surface that divides the body or an organ into upper (superior) and lower (inferior) parts
