DANCE
is a kinetic art form that uses the body, space, and formation in order to express a message or produce an aesthetic condition. There are different forms of movement from each culture and each have their own characteristic style and standards.

Ballet
is a highly technical, performative dance form that follows a rigid set of criteria, characterized by a focus on arm movement and positioning (port de bras), lower body movement (turnout), and posture (alignment), resulting in a light and airy movement. Ballet started during the Renaissance in the Italian courts, and later it was developed into a dance that was presented in concert form in France and in Russia.
Modern Dance
as a performative form reverses the rigidity of classical ballet, and is characterized by more freeform movements, stemming from the dancer's own emotions and invented routines. It also deliberately uses gravity to enhance movement, as opposed to classical ballet's lightness of movement, opting for falls, and nearing the floor instead of uprightness.
Social Dance
are dances performed in halls during birthdays, anniversaries, and other social occasions. They are usually formal and involve the young ladies and gentries of a community.
Rigodon de Honor
is a formal square dance with strict figurative movements and formations. The rigodon requires the dancer to step on the right foot followed by a swing of the left foot, and then a hop on the right, The fourth position is a swing of the right foot forward, and then the left foot springs out as the fifth position is accomplished. The arms are graciously swung sideways. The participants, since they are members of the upper class, usually come in formal ternos and barong tagalogs with intricate design.
Ballroom Dancing
is usually done by a couple in different dance duets, like the tango and the waltz. Because of the many variations that can be executed and the inventive choreographic formations that can be done with such dancing, ballroom dancing has become a competition and later on has been considered a sport.

is one of most famous folk dance of the Philippines. It consists of a man and woman dancing against two bamboo poles that are rhythmically struck together to the beat of the music

is a gracious festival dance from Quezon in which movements from the waltz and the polka are combined. Polkas are fast dances in two-fourth time, derived from Bohemia as well as other European countries.
Maglalatik
is a combative dance by men. Maglalatik from Biñan, Laguna is executed with coconut shells fitted to the bare body at the back, at the chest, the hips and thighs.
Sayaw sa Bangko
is danced on top of a long wooden stool, where the man and woman show off their balance as they cavort around without falling. To make this dance more exciting, they put several stools on top of one another for the dancers to dance on.
Jota Dance
is a dance in three-four time, so that it is likened to a fast waltz. There are many jotas in the Philippines, like the Jota Moncadeña from Tarlac which uses bamboo castanets clicking to the rhythm of the music.
Pandango
is a dance is set to the rhythm of six-eight or three-fourth from the Spanish fandango, which means "to go and dance." The pandango is a courtship dance that is executed with different objects that partly define its variations
Singkil
is a Muslim dance where the princess is the main dancer. She traverses along with pairs of bamboo with great dignity, while an attendant holds a parasol on top of her head. This dance starts quite slow and then gradually increases in speed until the tempo becomes dizzying while the princess maintains her composure, until she it hoisted on top of the bamboos that are held on their shoulders by the male performers.

is a dance form from Batangas that consists of a merry musical accompaniment played by the rondalla to a group of ladies with hats and young men who perform vigorous flirtatious movements
Pangalay
Among the Tausug and Samal, the ________ or igal has become symbolic of the dances in the Sulu-Tawi-tawi archipelago. The pangalay is danced by both men and women with intricate movements on both the feet and the hands. The dancer usually does not move about the space, but shuffles his or her feet with mincing footwork. The arms move in seductive fashion, with the fingers flipping and cupping with the thumb and forefinger touching each other.
Tayaw
is a traditional Ibaloy dance that is performed for different occasions. It is more of a ritual dance, where the local priest called mambunong becomes part of the ceremony. The dance is executed by a man and woman moving at the rhythm of the sulibao ensemble, consisting of two flat gongs, the kalsa and the pinsak, a pair of metal called tintik or palas, and two conical drums called sulibao and gimbal.

Rock and Roll
as genre began in the United States. The Filipinos did not compose its own music at first but instead copied the singing styles of the American performers, like Eddie Mesa who was the Elvis Presley of the Philippines. It was only in the 1970s when Filipinos emerged with their own versions of Mike Hanopol who made songs like “Laki Sa Layaw.”

are similar to broadway musicals, except that the music is based on rock music. Today, this trend continues with Rak of Aegis.

is an instrument that belongs to the lute family. It is shaped like a lizard or a crocodile and has two strings, one as drone and the other for the melody.
Saluray
has five strings and is played with two hands. It is played by a woman while the man plays the kudlung. They both dance, and the woman sings, leading the man in the choreographic movement.
Udol
It is a log drum and is usually played by two players, one beating a steady rhythm on the log with a pair of short thick sticks, and other beating different rhythmic patterns with a long cane.
Tangunggo
