Atkinson Shiffrin model

Encoding
The process of converting information into a format that can be stored in long-term memory.
Storage
The maintenance of encoded information over time.
Retrieval
The process of accessing and bringing into conscious awareness information stored in long-term memory.
Forgetting
The loss of information from memory, which can occur at any stage of encoding, storage, or retrieval.
Eidetic memory
A form of memory where individuals can vividly recall images, sounds, or objects after only a few seconds of exposure.
Hyperthymesia
A rare condition where individuals possess an extraordinary ability to remember autobiographical events in great detail.
Tip of the tongue phenomenon
The temporary inability to retrieve a known word or name, often leading to recall of related terms.
Similarity principle
